I think it’s critical that a business with multiple locations provide an experience that mirrors their local presence with the content ideas you mentioned above. Also to Soumya’s point, it is key that each landing page be unique enough that the “doorway” effect doesn’t hurt their strategy. Staying on top of webmaster tools is a great way to monitor this. Also, most companies find building out these pages, with unique content, a huge task as their current CMS or provider misses on some key points including Schema markup or geo-specific events and information like nearby points of interest.

A even more critical point is that when a business has physical locations, their local listings on Google and other directories have that local URL present to alleviate the consumer from doing a search all over again on the main domain.

But at the same time we need to remember that if we do not optimize those properly then the site can get penalized with Doorway Page Algorithm update by Google.
