Thanks for sharing your concern. You are right that if you created a video and hosted it on your own website, it could potentially bog down the site speed if the video player you use pre-loads the video. However, there are ways to avoid this while still getting the most out of using a video on your page. For example, hosting the video on a company YouTube channel would allow you to embed the video onto your pages without hurting site speed too much. YouTube doesn’t load the video until after the user clicks play.

The main takeaway with video and e-commerce is that people are almost twice as likely to buy a product if they have watched a video about it. Whether the video is viewed onsite or offsite depends on your strategy, but having video content somewhere for your potential customers statistically increases the chances for conversion.
